A SummerSlam potential spoiler has been circulating today. The rumours are regarding who AJ Styles will defend his Intercontinental Championship against at WWE’s pay per view on August 23rd.
It was stated by PWInsider, that the route that WWE are going down is to see Jeff Hardy challenge Styles for his title. This is according to the latest set of SmackDown tapings
The build up for the challenge was supposed to start with a taping planned for last week but that has been changed. Instead of two shows being recorded, WWE decided to tape the second show today instead.
This comes as a bit of a surprise considering the two have not crossed paths recently. Hardy has just finished a program with Sheamus and AJ Styles has been defending his title against multiple stars including Gran Metalik, Drew Gulak and SmackDown Newcomer Matt Riddle.
There has been no official confirmation from WWE, however, reports from PWInsider are extremely reliable.
