Former WWE Star moved to AEW at the start of 2019 and has flourished to become one of the main stars, if not the star of the new promotion. The Former AEW Champion recently revealed in an interview which star from WWE he would like to see Sign for All Elite Wrestling. During the discussion he had very high praise for the WWE Superstar.
Speaking to WhatCulture, Jericho said that he would love to see Roman Reigns join him in Tony Khan’s promotion.
Chris Jericho had this to say:
“We do have a select handful of WWE recruits, but if everybody got released and the company ended tomorrow, we wouldn’t take a lot. I would put Roman Reigns at the top of my wish list for anybody because not only is he a great worker, he’s such a cool guy. If they just let him be him, he’d be the biggest star in the industry. That’s a guy I’d love to get my hands on for sure, one of the few I’d love to have from WWE.”
Recently When Cody Rhodes has been asked about former WWE stars joining AEW he has stated that he doesn’t want to take all that are let go from Vince McMahons company. This makes sense, AEW want to evolve and promote their own performers. Jericho reiterated this in his interview saying that the promotion does not want to sign every ex-WWE star it can. He said:
“Our goal and what wrestling is all about is building new stars. It’s not going to be long before Sammy [Guevara] and MJF and Darby Allin and Scorpio Sky and these other guys are major major headlining stars. We need to build stars, this is not a a place where anybody in WWE can just show up. We’re very selective on who we take on.
“Nothing against anybody involved because they’re very talented, but there’s nobody on that list that we’re looking at. We’re not doing what WCW did in the 90s or what Impact did. We realize that’s not how you do it and it becomes a retread, we need to make our own stars.
“Look at Moxley now, it’s a different guy, look at Brodie Lee, they wouldn’t even put him on TV for the last eight months and now he’s headlining PPVs and kicking ass doing it.”
This is obviously something that is on Chris Jericho’s wish list and is extremely unlikely to happen. Roman Reigns is arguably WWE’s biggest Star and Vince McMahon would throw money at him if he even considered leaving. Roman Reigns has allegedly built up heat with WWE management since not performing or appearing on TV since the beginning of the Coronavirus pandemic.
