The Undertaker’s wife Michelle McCool was recently interviewed by The New York Post to discuss the Phenom’s career.

She revealed that at WrestleMania 24 Edge was originally offered the chance to end The Undertaker’s Streak. Edge put his Heavyweight Title on the line in the main event where Undertaker was set to lose the match, but The Rated R Superstar turned it down and refused to be the one to break the 15 year streak.

“Actually I remember a few years prior that WrestleMania (24) versus Edge they talked about Edge breaking the streak and it was Edge that was actually like, ‘That makes zero sense. I don’t want to do that. Why would I do that? The fans already love him. What’s it gonna do for Edge?’ It was Edge that went to bat for the streak. I know they had talked about it prior to the match with Brock, but you know it happened. It’s fine, it’s not like it’s an end-all, be-all for Mark by any stretch of the imagination.”

Fast forward a few years to WrestleMania 30 where Brock Lesnar hit Undertaker with three F5’s and shocked the world. Lesnar unexpectedly ended the 21year streak. Did McCool know that was to happen?

“I did know late in that afternoon that was gonna happen. I couldn’t believe it. I don’t think it needed to happen. But, Mark was fine with it. People don’t understand he’s gonna do business. He understands that business is business.”

Throughout the years of Taker’s Mania wins there were many rumours of wrestlers who were supposed to end the streak. Did Michelle know any of any others?

“Yeah, that’s the only other time that I’d heard about it. But (it ending) definitely made for some good memes for years to come (Laughs). People’s faces for sure.”

Undertaker’s wife addressed the Network special where fans are going to get a behind the scenes look on the Phenom’s career. It seems as he’s finally winding down, we’re going to see more of the man behind the character as time goes by.
