We reported a few days ago that despite the effort by WWE management, SummerSlam is going to be held at the Performance Centre next month instead of in front of a full paying audience.

The higher-ups within the company have been determined that the second biggest pay per view of the year is in front of fans, however due to positive Coronavirus tests within the WWE it will not be possible.

Now that the venue has been confirmed, and although we still have extreme rules to go, news is starting to be speculated as to which matches are planned for the show.

Dave Meltzer said in the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter, that it is planned for current Intercontinental Champion AJ Styles is set to defend his title against SmackDown newcomer Matt Riddle:

“A.J. Styles vs. Matt Riddle was also already set up when Riddle beat Styles in a non-title match. It also could be Riddle vs. King Corbin, which has also been pushed on television, with the idea of a Riddle win to set up the Styles match at SummerSlam.”

It was also recently reported that WWE Boss Vince McMahon is very high on Matt Riddle even, he even compared him to wrestling legend Shawn Michaels.

Riddle has already taken on and defeated Styles on Smackdown. In his main roster Debut, he took out the Phenomenal one stamping his authority on the blue brand
