Exactly two weeks ago today. WWE released over 30 Superstars from their contracts, including Luke Gallows, Karl Anderson, Drake Maverick, Heath Slater and Rusev. Many producers were also put on furlough. The cost-cutting exercise by the company was to save money due to the Coronavirus pandemic. It has been reported though that the cuts were not necessary and were only in place to make sure WWE would still make a massive profit in 2020 despite the global health issues.
News of releases and furloughs has continued to trickle through in the past few days, as it emerged that Cain Velasquez had been let go after only signing with the company in October, and longtime WWE employee Gerald Brisco has also been furloughed.
More releases could be on the way as WrestleVotes reported on social media that more releases could be on the way. They sad that WWE is willing to grant releases to “just about anyone” who asks.
Hearing from a few different sources that WWE is willing to grant a release to “just about anyone” who requests one. Basically if a talent wants out, they can go. Will be interesting to see if anyone REALLY does want out, especially during this uncertain time.

It is doubtful that more WWE stars will ask to leave due to financial implications of lock-down at the moment. however anyone that is truly unhappy at the company would be free to walk out at any time right now.
Stick with us and we will keep you updated on any movement within the company.
