Roman Reigns was one of the first members of the WWE roster to take some time out of the company during the Coronavirus pandemic. WWE moved to empty arenas and closed set productions to reduce risk of spreading the virus. In retrospect it seems Reigns decision to avoid the Performance centre was a wise choice.

When he first opted out, we believed that Reigns made the decision for himself after recently overcoming Leukemia, but he later revealed it had more to do with the fact his wife had just given birth to twins and he wanted to protect his family.

Throughout the time the company have been dealing with the virus, the speculation has been that Reigns was concerned about being exposed to COVID-19 while filming, which he definitely is. But as Roman recently told The Hindu his worries are more to do with his co-workers than the company’s efforts to clean and screen at the performance centre.

“The company has done everything that they can to make it the safest work environment possible. It is not the workplace that I was necessarily concerned about.

“The decision was taken mainly because each performer travels so much, and we are all such a diverse group and from all over the place. I’m not convinced, and I can’t trust the fact that everybody is taking it as seriously and locking themselves down at home like I am. I trust my life with my co-workers every time I step foot in the ring, but I just can’t put the same trust when it has my children, my wife and my family involved.

“But I don’t want it to come off as I am taking a stand against the company at all, because I love the WWE. I’ve been a part of this company just since I was a little boy. That’s why I always take it so personally when I represent them.”

This matches the rumours that are coming out of the Performance Centre relating to the fact that staff were going into bars, going to beaches and attending other social gatherings without divulging the information to WWE Screenings. With all the positive tests coming from within WWE Roman Reigns definitely made the right decision to stay at home and protect his young family.

Reigns says he is still in shape and training as hard as ever. He is anxious to return but he will make sure it is a different, safer environment before coming back, who knows when that may be.

Reigns says he’s still training as hard as ever and is anxious to return. But this does not sound like someone who is going to return until we’re in a drastically different environment than we’re currently in, and who knows when that might be.
