On last week’s episode of Friday Night Smackdown, AJ styles was challenged by Gran Metalik for the Intercontinental Championship. Styles successfully defended his title in a very one sided but entertaining match.
Prior to joining WWE back in 2016, Metalik was one of the best luchadors in Mexico. Fans and fellow athletes have expressed how happy they are to see him get the opportunities he deserves.
According to a report by Ringside News, Metalik was given a shot at the Intercontinental Championship because of something Dave Meltzer said. Ringside news has been highly accurate in recent reports.
The site is reporting that Raw and SmackDown’s Bruce Prichard was convinced into booking Metalik for the match because of the praise Dave Metlzer had for him. On one of his shows he had lots of positive things to say about the Lucha House Party member.
“Ringside News has learned that Gran Metalik was placed in that match because of what Bruce Prichard heard from Dave Meltzer. A writer with knowledge of the situation informed us that Prichard heard Meltzer thinks that Gran Metalik is “the best luchador and one of the best workers in WWE.
“The way it was explained to us, the pull to have Gran Metalik in the IC Title match was because Prichard “tried to appease the sheet readers by putting him in the match with AJ.” It was also said that WWE “tried to end the discussion” by beating Gran Metalik.”
It has also been reported recently that former WWE Champion Daniel Bryan is getting more involved with creative within SmackDown. He is allegedly behind the recent pushes of Drew Gulak, Shorty G and Gran Metalik.
