It is being reported that Vince McMahon has compared new SmackDown star Matt Riddle to WWE Legend Shawn Michaels.
According to a new report from Paul Davis at Wrestlingnews.co, Vince had the following to say about the young athlete:
“Vince likes guys like Shawn who have that rebel mentality and he sees some of Shawn in Matt. Matt can rub some people the wrong way but he’s a good guy and he will do great. I think he’s a future world champion. Vince will try to tweak him but his personality will get him far.”
Davis adds in his report that any backstage heat that was speculated regarding Riddles comments towards wrestling legends such as Goldberg have now subsided. In fact, two sources within the report sat that ‘The Original Bro’ has already been well received within the main roster locker room becoming a well-liked figure with fellow SmackDown stars.
It is also mentioned that Vince McMahon loved Riddle’s promo on last weeks SmackDown where he explained exactly why he wrestles barefoot. Apparently, Vince heard Riddle’s explanation prior to the show and let Riddle tell it on air as a result. It seems Riddle will now be given increased creative freedom to add his own input to his promos, character and in ring performances.
With Riddle having defeated AJ Styles in his main roster debut, could he be a potential contender for the Intercontinental Championship?
Riddle is already a potential Intercontinental Title contender, having defeated AJ Styles on his main roster debut. It seems he has enough heat to allow this, and being compared to one of the greatest Legends within the company, he must be feeling good about his future.
