We have previously given updates on this years SummerSlam, is it going ahead? When will it be? Where will it be held?
It seems we have even more information today regarding the pay per view. WWE have made an official announcement regarding the SummerSlam 2020 situation which is due to take place on August 23rd.
Due to the Coronavirus pandemic, it has been confirmed that the event will not be taking place in Boston as originally planned.
The following announcement was made on the WWE website:
In coordination with our local partners, government officials and TD Garden, WWE’s SummerSlam and related events will no longer take place in Boston. Refunds are available at the original point of purchase. We are grateful to the city of Boston for their longstanding partnership and look forward to holding WWE events at TD Garden in the future.
SummerSlam will stream live on Sunday, August 23, at 7 p.m. ET on WWE Network, and information regarding a new location for the event is forthcoming.
When the site mentions “and related events” they are referring to NXT:TakeOver which will take place on the Saturday before SummerSlam. Based on what has happened with recent pay per views, it would seem likely that SummerSlam will be aired from the Performance centre and NXT will be at Full Sail. As of yet, we have no confirmation as to how much of the shows will be pre-recorded.
Restrictions do seem to be getting a bit more relaxed across the globe regarding COVID-19, and there seems to be progress in terms of getting groups of people together, so we will keep you as informed as we can regarding the audience situation.
