A few days ago, Cm Punk took to Twitter to call out those who remained silent during the Black Lives Matter movement. Across the United states and most parts of the world, people are protesting due to the murder of George Floyd at the hands of the police.
CM Punk feels that those of influence should be using their social media to bring attention to the equality movement.
“Lotta people snitching on themselves. When people tell you who they are, believe it. Might be unfortunate and disappointing if you’re a fan of that person, or if it’s your grandmother, but f**k ‘em. Good bye! (I yield my time, f**k you.)”
He sent out a Tweet regarding this and a fan pointed out that AJ styles was staying silent. CM Punk said that he was not surprised by this insinuating that Styles has history or prejudice. (The tweet is now deleted)
“Well. Come on. That one has been obvious for years.”
The Times of India asked AJ Styles about Punk’s social media comment during a recent interview. Styles did not necessarily trash CM Punk, but he also did not address anything to do with the Black Lives Matter movement. Instead he took the opportunity to say that someone who he does not respect does not deserve a response.
“I will not react at all coming from a guy that I don’t [have] any respect [for] anyway. It doesn’t really matter. Look, my job as a performer is to perform and get the mind off all the things that have happened throughout the world. I am not going to react to people saying ridiculous and stupid things.”
Its clear to see that there is no love lost between the two, however fans are saying that they expected Styles to at least acknowledge the ongoing situation. Instead he states that his job is to perform and create an opportunity for people to forget about their problems. He does not want to comment on the situation, especially things he finds “ridiculous and stupid”
